Music superstars (and yes, even more seasoned music fans) will likely not be caught dead without a Spotify account. The streaming service is so popular that every kid with a computer has a Spotify account and millions of people log in to listen to the latest Top 40 hits, an excellent starting point for figuring out the hottest new music. For those who are really ambitious, however, there are some alternatives to what is arguably the best way to sample the latest in music: download it from a popular audio sharing site, such as iHeartRadio, Pandora, Rdio, or iTunes Radio.
No one’s worth telling to just buy it, however. If you’re like most people and have ever bought a new song off iTunes, it may be a little bit mind-numbing and confusing to learn how to download songs off of that site. Besides the fact that iTunes is too large a file to just download with your internet connection, if you get past the homepage, you’ll find thousands of different pages to choose from. If you want to get a feel for how music downloading works, you should try to sign up to a site where you can download songs from, instead of downloading a bunch of small files one by one. Sites like MP3Doc, Winampformac, and GameFan are great starting points for finding a good download site.
Before you start doing music downloads, though, make sure that you have all of the pieces you need to download music. Get yourself a digital camera, a Bluetooth headset, and some decent earphones; it doesn’t matter how loud your microphone is as long as you can hear yourself properly.
